Our Story…

Katie Bakes was founded in 2010 by Katie Fairhall, a mother of two, who lives in Hampshire on the South Coast of England.

The company came about as a result of making some cookie mixes in Kilner jars as Christmas gifts.  They were so well received, I decided to go into production and since then, we have continued to grow steadily. The website was initially launched in September 2010 when my youngest child started school. I also started trading online as well as supplying small independent high quality retailers. In May 2011, our Cookie Mix Party Bags were launched and proved an instant success and due to their eco-friendly nature, remain as popular as ever.

In 2017 we acquired The Little Pancake Company and moved the business out of home into waterside premises, in the historic location of Royal Clarence Yard, Gosport on Portsmouth Harbour. We are based in a historic 200 year old studio which was a former victualling (food supplies) store for the Royal Navy.

All our baking kits and pancake mixes are still put together by hand and guarantee fool-proof and delicious results.  Sustainability is very import to us and we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment as much.  Not only does our production have an incredibly low carbon footprint, we use biodegradable, recycleable and reusable packaging wherever possible for all our products. My Background

After a degree in commercial property, I worked in London as a commercial surveyor specialising in Property Investment.  Following my marriage and a move to the South Coast I took a career break to have a family.  Realising that my former career would never fit in with young children, I pursued my passion for baking and cooking by working for a number of years in an established local tearooms before setting up Katie Bakes.

Katie Bakes Ltd has a food hygiene rating of 5 from the Food Standards Agency and has SALSA certification.

Approval SALSA certification is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate to a SALSA auditor that they are able to produce and supply safe and legal food, and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.
